I probably looked
Like a human-hurricane
When I stormed into the computer lab -
Angry over unsaved essay files and my own stupidity.
Three hours of work in that keyboard-clacking room. Saved only in my memory.
Then - you - brown eyed. Staring.
Just for a second. And then you looked down.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced this week that married same-sex couples are now eligible to apply for Medicare, including benefits like hospital stays and physician care.
This marks another step in the government’s process of federally recognizing same-sex marriages in a (partially) post-DOMA world.
“Today’s announcement helps to clarify the effects of the Supreme Court’s decision and to ensure that all married couples are treated equally under the law,” said HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius. “We are working together with SSA to process these requests in a timely manner to ensure all beneficiaries, regardless of sexual orientation, are treated fairly under the law.”
A little dense, but progress, progress!
